Post-Mortem Report
Every attack that has ended can be downloaded as a PDF report. It is useful to explain an incident to your community, your team or your hosting provider.
How to download it
- Go to Security > Attacks.
- Click the attack you want. It must show Resolved.
- Scroll to the Post-mortem report card and click Download PDF.
The report is generated when you click, so it can take a few seconds (the button shows Generatingβ¦). The file is saved as playsafe-report- followed by the alert ID, for example playsafe-report-abc123.pdf. The alert ID is shown in the Timeline card.
While the attack is still going on, the card says Available once the attack is resolved. If the download fails, the panel asks you to try again in a minute.
The email PlaySafe sends when an attack ends also links to the report, if email notifications are on.
What is inside
The header shows the report ID, when it was generated, the service and the severity. Then come six sections:
| Section | Content |
|---|---|
| 1. Executive Summary | A short overview of the attack |
| 2. Attack Statistics | Attack type, severity, result, vectors, start, end, duration, peak and average traffic, total traffic, packets dropped and the protected service |
| 3. Tactical Analysis | A written analysis of the attack |
| 4. Attack Origin Distribution | Countries and their share of the attack traffic |
| 5. Attack Timeline | Each checkpoint with its malicious traffic, clean traffic and packets dropped |
| 6. Recommendations | Suggested next steps for your service |
The summary, analysis and recommendations are written automatically from the attack data. Treat them as guidance, not as a guarantee.
